About Jimmy

What drives ESD is people. I believe that people have the resources to solve most of the challenges we face, they just need that creativity releasing. That’s what ESD really does – builds competence, confidence and focuses on people.

Often I give help with the first steps, reinforcing what people already know. I help them go forward in a more structured way and to see they already have the skills to take action.

I work on the principle that you can have long-term working relationships, but not long-term working dependencies. I want to pass on skills and build capacity for sustainability in the organisations I work with.

Having spent time living and working across Europe and the developing world I have an an appreciation for the inequalities of the planet and the diversity and urgency of the challenges we face in terms of sustainability.

But what living in different countries really brought into focus for me was the shared nature of problems and our responses to them, regardless of whether you’re in the first or third world.

What also stands out for me is that people are no longer asking to be convinced that sustainability is an issue. They just want help to respond.
